Indian Neem, a tree native to India, has had its leaves, bark, seeds, and oil used in Ayurvedic medicine (traditional Indian natural therapy) to treat various diseases. Neem extracts are widely used in modern agriculture and medicine. To date, over 400 compounds have been isolated from different parts of the neem tree, including azadirachtin, nimbin, gedunin, and nimbolide. In addition to its insecticidal properties, the plant also possesses antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, hypoglycemic, molluscicidal, acaricidal, and antifilarial properties.

Nimbin and Limonoids in neem leaves have anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, antiseptic, and skin ulcer healing effects, helping to soothe eczema, ringworm, folliculitis, and seborrheic dermatitis.

Neem leaves are rich in antioxidants, which help enhance the immune response of gum and oral tissues. Neem is also a natural antibacterial agent that helps reduce the ability of plaque to colonize on tooth surfaces.

Azadirachtin has been tested for its anti-parasitic effects. Research indicates that 500 mg/kg (body weight) of neem leaf powder and 5 mg/kg (body weight) of fenbendazole (a common anthelmintic for poultry and livestock) have comparable efficacy.
